*Forest School Summer Program Aide*
Employment Type: Part-time, Seasonal, Hourly

_ Regular hours: June 10 - August 15 15-30 hours per week Regularly scheduled hours will be between 7:15am-5:45pm, Monday through Thursday; this position may require occasional night and/or weekend hours (~1x/month) for special events Candidate should be open to working additional hours as needed between the hours of 7:15am-5:30pm in the case of staff absences Staff training and staff meetings are required outside of hours listed above NO nights or weekends are regularly required for this position Position Start Date: June 3rd, 2024 Location: Roots and Wings Forest School, 35320 550th Ave, New York Mills MN 56567 *Overview* Roots and Wings Forest School is a nature-based, year-round private school in New York Mills, MN serving children ages 3-12 through year round educational programming in the great outdoors.

* Assisting Lead Guide with activity implementation based on children’s interests and seasonal topics.
* Assisting Lead Guide with supervision of play, engaging in play and group game activities with children as opportunities present themselves.
* Building relationships with children through daily interactions and professional yet friendly communication.
* Providing positive guidance to children in navigating social interactions with others.
* Daily set-up, break-down, and cleaning of indoor and outdoor classroom spaces is split between staff.
*Qualifications* Candidates should have an interest in and experience working with children.
A love for nature and being outdoors will be a strong asset, as our program operates 100% outside during summer months.
A positive, child-centered approach to classroom management aligns with our organization’s values.
Candidates must be a minimum of 16 years old.
Our ideal candidate will: * Be passionate about working with children in nature.
* Honor our learners as individuals capable of risk-taking, problem-solving, creativity, teamwork, inquiry, and self-awareness.
* Feel comfortable and confident about meeting the needs of children outdoors in all seasons - physically able to hike, carry gear, and carry a small child if needed (50 lbs).
Preferred Experience and Education: * Have experience working with preschool-aged children in a school, child care, or camp setting.
* Knowledge of and passion for the natural world.
