Description: The Camp Aide will work under the direction of a Mental Health Processional and/or Mental Health Practitioner to provide a safe and therapeutic environment for clients participating in outdoor programming associated with Camp North Homes.
MAJOR JOB DUTIES (JOB SPECIFIC) Safety First Operations Maintain the safety of all youth, participants and staff through adherence to Camp North Homes policies and procedures, good judgement and adhering to the guidelines of any certifications (NASP, ARC Lifeguarding, ETC.
) facilitators are operating under.
Promptly complete all necessary paperwork as outlined in Camp North Homes policies and procedures manual.
Ensure paperwork is given to Camp Director or the appropriate staff member.
Clearly communicate expectations, directions, responsibilities and limitations (ie what uncertified staff can NOT be in charge of) to all non-facilitating adults or staff.
Orient non-facilitating staff to use camp appropriately in order to make it safely accessible.
Manage behaviors, communication and interactions to maintain a physically and emotionally safe facilitation environment for all.
Practice, repeat, re-introduce and master the skills defined in the Independent Behavior Plan, as outlined by the Mental Health Professional or Mental Health Practitioner Provide cues or prompts in skill-building peer-to-peer or parent-child interactions so that the child progressively recognizes and uses the cues independently.
Reinforce the child’s accomplishments Observe behaviors giving appropriate redirection as needed Teach redirecting skills for inappropriate behaviors.
Intervene in inappropriate/negative redirection if necessary and implement de-escalation techniques as recommended by the child’s treating professional.
Document all incidents.
All Other Duties As Assigned Other duties may be assigned to this position periodically depending on the needs of the agency and/or Human Resources Director.
Requirements: MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Previous experience in the areas of recreational programming and overall residential activities operations is desirable.
Individual must be non-judgmental in regards to lifestyle, race and/or economic status of clients.
Must be16 years old and have a valid Minnesota Drivers License.
